People Involved - Bruce Hammond

Bruce Hammond is CEO of Hammond Fine Homes, Inc., a General Contracting & Development firm based in Sonoma County, California. Bruce and his team have been providing design construction solutions to clients in the North Bay Region for over 25 years. Their projects have been featured in such publications as Sunset Magazine, Progressive Architecture, the San Francisco Examiner, and Global Architecture.

Hammond Fine Homes Inc. has for many years focused on lessening the impacts to the natural environment resulting from construction. They have been leaders by introducing "High Performance Green Building" in this region as their principal business focus. Their recently completed landmark residential design/ build project, "Oak Glen ", is a pre-eminent example of High Performance Green Building in the north bay region. It has been extensively toured by groups interested in seeing a clear example of the mainstreaming of advanced green building technologies and practices.

Bruce is an active member of the United States Green Building Council and the Energy and Environmental Building Association. He has been an EPA "Energy Star Partner", and is a founding member, and Chair of the Redwood Empire Chapter of the U S Green Building Council, which is working locally to educate and advocate for Sustainable Development and Green Building practices as the primary models for the future of development in Sonoma County and the Redwood Empire Region.

Bruce is a past Planning Commissioner and currently on the Design Review Board for the City Of Cotati, he has bee a LEED Accredited Professional since 2002, and is one of three core faculty members for the "Green Building Professional Certificate Program" at Sonoma State University. He is Principal of Sustainable Design Consulting, which was founded in order to provide the integrated planning, information, and facilitation services necessary for incorporating green building practices into sustainable development projects.

Bruce has been a resident of Sonoma County since 1978. He is a father, and lives with his wife & family in Cotati, California. For many years he has been a student of the Japanese martial art, Aikido, and currently holds a blackbelt in the art. He is also an avid gardener, backpacker and fly fisherman.
