         When you register for the Exam, you will be sent the current Green Advantage(R) Open Book Exam Reference and accompanying Exam Preparation Manual.

Course Description:

This is a Green Advantage dual certification training workshop. It is a comprehensive review of the information needed to pass the exam.  We will review topics such as (1) Sustainable construction and what it means to the contractor (2) Benefits of being a Green Advantage Contractor (3) Introduction and review of the relationship of the LEED process, overview of the credits, and credit intents and strategies used by the contractor to comply (4) Practice sample questions including the solutions.

Course Objectives:

Upon Completion of the training, the trainee will be able to do the following:

1. Describe the major challenges to the green environment that are caused directly or indirectly by the built environment.

2. Identify decisions and actions in your personal and work life that impact the green environment.

3. Prioritize your actions in terms of which ones matter most for the green environment.

4. Describe the life cycle phases of a building and the impacts on the green environment over its life cycle.

5. Identify green alternatives to conventional building practices and describe the pros and cons of those alternatives.

6. Identify specific practices you can implement at work to improve your impacts on the green environment.

7. Describe the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating process.

8. Identify construction activities that contribute to a projects' LEED rating.

9. Identify common construction pitfalls that may affect a projects LEED rating.

 

After the course, upon successful completion of the Certification Exam, students will be issued a Green Advantage Commercial / Residential certificate. When you report to the exam you will need to present the ID issued by Honolulu Community College after your training session.

The Exam:

The Green Advantage Certification Exam-Commercial - will be given at the Honolulu Community College testing center - you will select the time and date when you register for the Exam (see link in box above).  Be sure to select "Commercial Exam (in-network)."
