Residential and Commercial Building Design and Construction
To Become
Certified Green Advantage® Training Program Instructors
The Green Building Education, an authorized Green Advantage Commercial Training provider, is expanding its faculty base nation-wide. Our goal is to identify and train qualified teaching teams in all regions of the country.
The Training Program is designed to prepare individuals for the Green Advantage Certification Exam and provides the construction industry with tools and practices that are integral to green building and that are economically viable. (Background and Course Outline follow).
Two trainers lead one-day Green Advantage Training Workshops across the country. We are seeking additional faculty with the following background experience:
- Architectural/Design/Academic
- Construction/Contractor/Subcontractor
Architectural/Design/Academic
- A demonstrated knowledge base in green building; preferably a LEED® Accredited Professional. As many of our attendees will have no background in green building or general sustainability topics, a strong background is imperative!
- Teaching experience and/or experience with facilitation.
- Ability to manage lively discussion and interaction with participants.
- Letters of recommendation; endorsements.
- Willing to travel to cities where training is scheduled.
Construction/Contractor /Subcontractor
- Must have built a building that went through the LEED certification process and can share the successes and challenges of building a LEED or green building.
- LEED Accreditation is preferred, but not required.
- Experience with the LEED documentation and submission process.
- Although no prior teaching experience is required we encourage those to submit who may have some public speaking experience, are enthusiastic about green building, and who are eager and comfortable sharing their experiences.
- Willing to travel to cities where training is scheduled.
Applicants Will
- Be required to attend a Green Advantage Commercial Workshop.
- Be required to take the Green Advantage Certification Exam and receive a passing grade.
- Attend a faculty training session in the Dallas, Philadelphia or other locations.
- Once selected, as a faculty member, be listed on the Green Advantage Website as a Green Advantage Certified Trainer.
- Once selected, commit to teaching at least six (6) workshops per year. Travel expenses related to attending a train the trainer program will be reimbursed up to $500 after teaching three (3) workshops.
- When booked for a one-day Training Workshop, trainers will receive a $1,500 - $2,000 faculty fee, depending on the travel mileage, that is inclusive of travel expenses. Trainers will be responsible for making their own travel and hotel arrangements.
